deluxedo is the producer alias of David Merrick, a lifelong electronic musician whose work spans house, downtempo, and drum & bass. Since first picking up a Roland MC-303 in 1996, Merrick has spent nearly three decades creating music driven by groove, originality, and a refusal to follow formulas.
Originally adopting the deluxedo name while living in Cleveland Heights in 1999, Merrick developed a style built around unexpected ideas, detailed drum programming, and a belief that strange concepts work best when paired with strong musical structure. Whether drawing inspiration from underground rave culture, dancehall, alternative rock, or classic drum & bass, his productions favor personality and surprise over predictability.
A producer long before becoming a DJ, Merrick has been involved in projects including Coach, Monoloids, Fredd Zepplin, and Imperial Sound System, while also founding the independent label Handsome Sandwich in 2025.
From tracks like White And Black and The Button to the techstep energy of Raggajunkiejew, deluxedo continues to follow the same principle that has guided him from the beginning: make interesting music, not cookie-cutter tracks.

Raggajunkiejew began as a tribute to Ween's Reggaejunkiejew from Pure Guava, reimagined through the language of drum & bass. Rather than simply remixing the original, deluxedo rebuilt its spirit as a 176 BPM techstep roller filled with dark atmospheres, precision edits, and heavyweight low end.

Built around relentless breakbeats, heavy sub bass, and a no-nonsense jungle groove, the track came together quickly and refused to let up. Equal parts old-school attitude and modern production, it leans into the rough edges that made jungle exciting in the first place while keeping the low end firmly rooted on today's sound systems.
